Voice Lessons

Voice lessons include much more than just learning songs— I tailor my voice lessons curriculum to fit the needs of each student, and lessons include musicianship and theory as well as evidence-based vocal technique.

Each voice lesson begins with vocal exercises to warm up the student’s voice and strengthen the various muscles involved in singing. Some exercises include solfège syllables (i.e. “do re mi”) to build musicianship and ear training skills. Voice lessons also include work on songs, which may be chosen by the student and/or teacher. Through repertoire study (songs), students develop melodic confidence, rhythmic accuracy, expressive singing, language skills, and acting ability.

Intermediate to advanced voice students may have opportunities to perform in regional vocal competitions and festivals. Some students also choose to take international music exams, such as the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music).
